      EDUCATION IS THE ANSWERQ

 LifeSpan's   RESPONSE TO AUTISM
Dr. Amos believes that autism can pull a family apart-or bring it together. LifeSpan offers ideas and inspiration for handling the demands, challenges, and opportunities that come with an autism diagnosis.
At LifeSpan, we consider autism to be a  disorder that can be detected in
delays in childhood development before the age of three years. Although             the specific causes of autism remain undetected. Currently, Dr. Amos, along with Sonja Flournoy Is developing research in the methods of the diagnosis of autism and treatment procedures.

LifeSpan holds that with early intervention, intense therapies, and schooling, some children diagnosed with autism may improve their skills to the point of neurotypical children.

The biggest fear a mother has is that her child will be damaged; That the perfect wonder of her baby will undone somehow; That she will turn her head just at the moment the child slips; That the child will spill scalding coffee;that the out-turned handle of a pot or the stray pill, will find her child. She don't know if the vaccines she insisted upon, as a responsible parent following responsible medical advise, her baby  harm. Or if the toxins in the air and water that pervade in everything we eat and and breath increased, after generations, to a breaking point. Or if it was none of this, but maybe genetic destiny, a ticking clock that would strike at age two, or something she failed to do. Or perhaps her fear itself called it fourth, as some sort of extraordinary response from an unkind God.

Ultimately, faith and fear cannot co-exist. One has to eventually prevail out of this eternal pull. A mother simply does not have the luxury to feel  fear. Fear will become in the face replacing the child's immediate need, an indulgence. The child is here, the autism is engulfing him, hour by hour, day by-day he is drifting inward toward a remote and private place. The mother can reach beyond herself and into the fog that grips her child and pull him out or she can continue fearing and loose him.Fear has to fall by the wayside, and faith will emerge in the tiny triumphs of your child's gaze. Children clearly help tap into this faith, the source of the life force that vaporize fears. They help us see the world in a more trusting way and discover a love we did know was possible.

Sonja has personal experienced the shock of discovering out her child has autism. Although although the presence of autism is life-changing for most, Sonja examples the mother that can build a career, educate herself, fair well emotionally and still have a strong bond with her child. Moms who work outside the home are often forced to quit their jobs to take care of the child's needs. Sonja, however, developed a different approach around her own one-on-one behavioral program. Sonja became an expert on diet, on treatment, on all kind of things, and finds time to fight continuous battles on behalf of her child because the support system that is supposed to be there isn't there. Sonja is a strong advocate in various concerns of Austin families.
There is a significant difference in the increases in the Diagnosis of Autistic Children when compared to two decades ago. Currently Sonja is teamed with Dr. Amos in researching the diagnosis of Autism. Autism is one of the leading disabilities among children in the United States  It seems today that children are been diagnosis with Autism at an alarming rate.  So the question in this proposal asks, "is autism the true diagnosis of all the children that has been diagnose with an autistic disorder." This means that some children will be diagnosed with autism even though they have more mild or related delays in development, or if they have behavioral problems often found in Asperger's Syndrome. The Hypothesis of the research suggests that: There is link between recent significant increases in the diagnosis of autistic children and inaccurate diagnoses due to the lack of a single identified cause for autism, forcing the avoidance of neurological and genetic causes.

If you're concerned your child has autism, and you're getting the response  from your pediatrician, not to worry or that boys develop more slowly than girls, or other evasive answers, remember doctor's visits are often short, and your child may not be displaying the worrisome behavior you've seen so often at home. A visit with Sonja may suggest such actions as videotaping your child's behavior and showing it to the doctor. "You could play it on your laptop, or even just bring in the video camera," she says. Getting a letter of support from your child's day-care provider or preschool teacher might also help.
